BeakonHub (“we”, “us”) operates beakonhub.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under UK GDPR and PECR.

Who we are

BeakonHub provides QA automation content and free testing tools for software engineers. For privacy enquiries, contact us via our Contact page.

What we collect

  • Usage analytics — Google Analytics (MonsterInsights) collects anonymised page views, device type, and referral source.
  • Marketing / email — Omnisend may collect email addresses if you subscribe to a newsletter or marketing form.
  • Feedback — UserFeedback may collect optional survey responses you submit.
  • AI schema assist (tools.beakonhub.com) — When you click “Generate schema” in the Test Data Generator, the description you typed is sent to OpenAI to propose a schema. Nothing is sent until you click. Your generated rows, seeds and exports never leave your browser. Please don’t include real personal data in descriptions. We don’t log the description text. The resulting schema is cached for up to 30 days so repeat requests don’t call OpenAI again. To prevent abuse, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that requests come from a real browser, using your IP address, browser type and similar technical signals.
  • Server logs — Tools hosting. tools.beakonhub.com is hosted by Netlify, which may log IP address, browser type and request time.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

  • Essential site operation (e.g. WordPress session, consent preference)
  • Analytics (Google Analytics)
  • Kit (email newsletter and Edge-Case Pack delivery)

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the banner on first visit. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Lawful basis

AI schema assist: to provide the feature you asked for when you click Generate schema, and our legitimate interest in running it. Turnstile bot checks: our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and controlling costs.

  • Consent — analytics and marketing cookies (where required)
  • Legitimate interests — site security, abuse prevention, and tool improvement
  • Contract — responding to contact or support requests you initiate

Data retention

OpenAI does not use API data to train its models and keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. Cached schemas are deleted after 30 days.

Analytics and marketing data are retained according to each provider’s policy (typically 14–26 months for Google Analytics). Server logs are retained by our host for a limited period.

  • Some of these providers (OpenAI, Netlify, Cloudflare) are based in the US, so your data may be processed outside the UK under their standard contractual safeguards.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal data, and object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Children

BeakonHub is intended for professional users. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
